Four Elements - Ecological exhibition and learning center. Based from original sketch from 2001 for a school project for The Four Elements Learning Center, now this archived sketch comes to life. The building's structural shell is made of thick straw bale walls with an adobe finish. The straw bale buttress wings on the sides of the building create landscaping and shaded outdoor spaces, as well as supporting the structure without any secondary support, using past techniques in the present. Also features Art Nouveau inspired glazing and roof articulations. The thick massing and optimal openings provide a natural cool temperature again using methods of our past elders and teachers.
